Now ... don't cry over this one ...
12 x 9 inches - oil on Belgian linen panel
SOLD ;-)
This was the second of my reflections pieces and it may be the last for now - until I pluck up the courage to do another.
I was a bit concerned over the lack of colour after I'd finished this one but I like the simplicity and monochromatic feel. The greys are made up with raw umber, cobalt blue and white for the cool areas and raw umber, cobalt blue, yellow ochre and white for the warmer areas.
The seemingly white highlights all have some yellow ochre added to them too.
your paintings are amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of this piece also. Very, very well done.
ReplyDeleteSimply brilliant.
ReplyDeleteStunning, clever, poetic and finely executed!
Inspiring Paul...
stunning work! and thank you for the info on the colours you used. r.
ReplyDeletePaul, this is a masterpiece... I'm speechless. I love the hint of blue on the left side, just above the handle... and the composition is so good too, I could start making up stories about what happened, and also what it makes me think... great painting.

Beautiful. I was looking at the weave of the canvas close up and it's convinced me that linen is so much better for realism. Carolina beat me to it when she mentioned that little bit of blue. There's something about the milk itself though..don't know what it is because it's beautifully painted, but it's playing trix with my mind. Maybe its because you said you didn't like painting reflections.

Simply stunning!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! thanks for sharing your palette. the reflection is brilliant (I think I say brilliant every time I'm here), and I adore the bit of blue in the reflected light above the handle. Well, David Parker said it in fewer words. It is.

A perfect example how to use many colors, but ending up with a piece looking like black&white painting. Not an easy task. Great job, Paul.
